Where We Live:
Climate

Current Heartwood Weather
At Heartwood, we don’t really buy homes. We buy a great community and fabulous weather. The four season climate here is hard to beat with over 300 days of sunshine per year.
In the winter, we’ll get the occasional snowstorm, but the sun soon returns leaving us with a sparkling snowscape for skiing, sledding, and snowshoeing.
Spring arrives early with a profusion of buds, shoots, and blossoms. We open our windows again to welcome in the fresh air.
The summer brings the heat, but not too much. With our dry climate, the nighttime lows are usually about 30º cooler than the daytime highs so it’s always cool and comfortable for sleeping. Because of our well insulated homes and moderate temps, our homes stay comfortably cool without air conditioning. June is our hottest month and then July and August tend to be cooler because of our afternoon monsoons.

Fall is many people’s favorite season with the return of cooler temps, garden harvests, and the lovely fall colors. Almost every fall day here is an indian summer day.
Besides the abundance of sunshine, another great thing about our climate is that many different temperatures are available at any given time because of the nearby mountains and canyons. On a typical weekend in March, you could head up to the mountains for skiing, stay here at Heartwood for horseback riding in jeans and a sweatshirt, or venture over to Utah for red rock hiking in shorts and a T-shirt.
