Come Visit Us and Experience Cohousing Firsthand
We welcome anyone who would like to learn more about Heartwood Cohousing to spend time with us. There are many different activities here at Heartwood: community dinners, social events, business meetings, impromptu ping pong, pool, or foosball games in the rec room, hikes on our 250 acres of land, and spontaneous social gatherings of all kinds. 

Spending a few days at Heartwood is an excellent preview into community life. We have two guest bedrooms with a full bathroom in our beautiful common house which we would be happy to reserve for you (recommended donation is $20 per guest bedroom per night). Be aware, however, that these rooms can sometimes be noisy depending on the activities going on in the common house during your stay.  Please limit your visit to 4 nights as these rooms are primarily for members’ family and friends.

To get the most from your visit to Heartwood, you may want to schedule your visit to coincide with one of our regularly scheduled community activities:

• Common Meals (Community Dinners) - every Tuesday and Wednesday at 6:30 (reservations required)
• Friday Potluck - every Friday at 6:30 (bring a dish to share)
• Community Meeting (where we work on community issues using the consensus process) - every other Monday evening at 6:45
• Meeting of the Hearts (where we get together for personal sharing) - every fourth Monday evening at 6:45

Please be aware that these events do get canceled on occasion so make sure and check in with someone here. Click here to view a calendar of these events and guest room availability. Please do not reserve a guest room yourself. Please have a Heartwood member do that for you.

Using the Heartwood Host and Guest Room Calendar (for Heartwood Members only)

In order to access Heartwood Host and common house guest room information remotely, we keep that information on the Yahoo Groups Calendar web page for hwcnews.

Instructions to sign up to be a Heartwood Host:

• Go to the Yahoo Groups Calendar web page for hwcnews. (Calendar should open in a new browser window so you should be able to refer back to this window for instructions.)
• The Heartwood Host sign up is broken up into two week blocks. Find a two week block that works for you and that is open (E.g., "Host 7: open").
• Click on the words "Host X: open" for any one of the days in the two week block.
• On the screen that comes up, click on "Edit". (If the word "Edit" does not appear immediately after the words "Host X: open" on the new screen, that means you don't have the necessary Yahoo privledges to edit. If that happens, you'll need to have someone on the Membership team sign you up for the Heartwood Host block that you want. Sorry. It's a limitation of the Yahoo system.)
• Replace the word "open" with your name and click on "Update".
• Review the Host info that appears on the calendar and make sure it's correct. If not, edit it again.

Instructions to reserve a common house guest room (for members only please):
Please follow these instructions very carefully so your guests get the reservations they want.

• Go to the Yahoo Groups Calendar web page for hwcnews. (Calendar should open in a new browser window so you should be able to refer back to this window for instructions.)
• Find open days that work for your guests.
• Click on "Add" for the first day of your guest's visit.
• In the "Add Event" screen that comes up, under "Title", type "GR1: <your name or name of guest>" (or GR2).
• On the same screen, click on the "This is an all day event." button.
• If your guest is staying more than one night, on the same screen, click on the "Repeat Every Day" button and then click on the "Until" button and select the date of the last night your guest will be using the guest room. (For example, if your guest is arriving on Friday afternoon, June 10 and leaving on Monday morning, June 13, your "Until" date would be June 12 because that's the last night they will be using the guest room.)
• On the same screen, click on the "Save" button and you should be done.
• Review the reservation info that appears on the calendar and make sure it's correct. If you need to edit it, click on the words "GR1: <your name or name of guest>" for any one of the days of the reservation and then on the screen that comes up, click on "Edit".
• If your guest ends up canceling or changing their visit, make sure to delete or change their reservation.
