| WHAT'S NEW?
After many years of planning and hard work, we are in our fourth year of families living here at Heartwood! Our many years of building this dream have finally given way to actually living it. We have a new play structure on the Village Green that resembles a ship and is appropriately named the SS Ponderosa. It made the front page of the Durango Herald upon its completion last summer. Our greenhouse continues to produce herbs, greens, flowers, vegetables and even lemons from the lemon trees! The Chicken Palace is done and we have a busy group of hens and one rooster, and along with them fresh eggs daily! Our pastures contain several horses, a donkey named Applejack, and 4 new llamas. The home school at Heartwood has two classes of students and they are exploring their creativity in ways that benefit the entire community with musical presentations and artwork and poetry proudly displayed on the Common House Walls. During the winter months, the exercise room is busier as well as the rec room with ping pong, pool, and foosball games. In the warmer months, we all enjoy hiking in the San Juans, biking on the trails, and smelling the sage throughout our land. Throughout these past three plus years, we at Heartwood continue to strengthen our community ties, become friends and still are adding members to our community. If you're interested in being part of a very close-knit cohousing community located in a spectacular setting, now's the time to get involved in Heartwood Cohousing.
