Steering Team Liaison Guidelines

Picture
Steering Team

Revised 03/26/25

One of the Steering Team’s (ST) responsibilities is team oversight.

From ST Team Agreements:
• Ensure that teams and task forces are fulfilling their responsibilities. – Full Authority

In order to stay informed about the wellbeing of Heartwood’s teams each ST member takes on the role of liaison to one or two teams at the beginning of a new term. The role of the liaison is to gather information and inform ST of their team(s) progress as well as challenges in order for ST to determine if teams are able to fulfill their responsibilities. If needed, ST will discuss possible follow up.

It is recommended the liaison
  • Make themselves familiar with their team(s) responsibilities
  • Sign up to their team(s) chat for easier communication
  • Make themselves and their role known to their team(s)
  • Invite the  members of their team(s) to share with them issues they experience and accomplishments they celebrate
  • Attend occasional team meetings
  • Read the meeting minutes to stay informed
  • Check in occasionally with their team lead(s)
  • Report back to ST at least twice a year and as needed

The role of a ST liaison is not to fix a team’s problems, but rather to support their effort in fulfilling their responsibilities as best as possible.
