August move in

First Homes Ready in August

The construction site of our 14 new Phase 2 homes is buzzing with activity. Our builder will complete our first seven homes in August. That’s huge news for our new community neighbors who have purchased those homes and are now preparing for the big move, enrolling their kids in new schools, and getting settled into the next chapter of their lives. Although many of these homes are already spoken for, a couple are still available if you’re hoping to settle into a new home this August.

All of the new Phase 2 structures (with temporary green roofs) are now erected. Various trades are now turning those structures into beautiful, high quality, zero energy ready, comfy, cozy homes. The northern end of Phase 1 is on the left.

Seven of the Ponderosa model homes come with a basement ADU for great use flexibility and potential rental income. Here an ADU entrance stairwell is being built.

Framed walls in a Ponderosa basement. The basements are meticulously designed and built to be super comfortable, featuring lots of natural daylight from huge window wells, warm and dry comfort from extra insulation and exterior drain board, and full eight foot ceilings.

Construction Progressing by Leaps and Bounds

We've got crews of every type working on site – earthwork, concrete, framing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, insulation, drywall, painting, finish carpentry, flooring, and cabinetry. Every day substantial progress is made to complete Phase 2.

Blown in insulation gives our homes R30 walls and R60 roofs, which means a super warm and comfortable home to live in and greatly reduced energy consumption. With the addition of a rooftop PV solar system, all Phase 2 homes are net zero. All Phase 2 homes are being certified under the DOE Efficient New Homes Program.

Besides insulation, another key factor in a home's energy performance is how tight it is (minimal air leakage). To that end, each home receives the Aeroseal treatment, which is a high tech, proprietary system to seal up leaks in the home. These will be some of the tightest and most energy efficient homes built.

Now is a Great Time to Join Heartwood

It's rare for an established, thriving community to offer new homes for sale. You can become a member of a welcoming, supportive, and nurturing community and live in a state of the art, energy efficient home.

There are still some optional upgrade choices to be made, but you would need to act fast. Many of these decisions are being finalized as construction draws to a close.

The first of the kitchen cabinets are being installed.

Exterior trim being installed on the front gable end of one of the Ponderosa homes. The trim is non-flammable in keeping with our commitment to build extremely fire-resistant homes.

The neighborhood is really taking shape. Some notable features in this photo:

• A central pedestrian pathway, which completely transforms the energy within a neighborhood and opportunities for social interaction

 • At left, ~200 sf front porch to foster opportunities for community connection

• Geodesic dome greenhouse, which is a centerpiece of Phase 2 and provides community members with fresh produce year round

• Blue Colorado sky – we enjoy 300+ days of sunshine per year
