The workshop and Bodega are kept locked for safety. The lock codes are 4130.
The Workshop Use Guidelines are posted at the east end of the workshop. All members are welcome to use the workshop. Most of the tools in the workshop are privately owned. Use only your tools or get permission from the owner. Tools are color coded to identify the owner, as indicated on the posted color chart. All general use tools are painted green and are mostly located in the area of the general work bench, which is along the North wall opposite the windows. All green tools can be used by anyone. They may be borrowed from the workshop for not more than one day.
There is generally no cost for members to use the workshop. See the Private Use of Community Resources Compensation Guidelines for details.
There is a Woodworkers Guild, which was created to pool knowledge and tools. See the Workshop Use Guidelines for details.
Use only your material (wood, glues, etc.) or general use materials (in labeled bin). Clean up after yourself after each use. This includes sawdust, glue residues, old brushes, paint etc. Reset heaters to 45º F when workshop is not in use.
Get permission to use other people’s tools and learn how to use them safely. For safety, unplug tools when not in use. Lower the blade on the table saw and the router bit on the router table and generally put away any sharp tools or blades. Shut all doors when you are not in the workshop. Children must be supervised to use the workshop.
Store tools and materials in the workshop only if they are being used on a regular basis and if they are well organized (owner responsibility). Projects may be stored in the workshop if currently being worked on and if labeled with owners name. Please do not use the workshop for general storage.
Bodega
The Bodega is the community storage room attached to the northeast corner of the workshop. It is for community, not private storage. It is used mostly for community tools. There are also many tools hung on the exterior wall of the Bodega. You are welcome to use any of those tools. Just put them back right away so they are available for others. There are guidelines for using the Bodega posted on the inside of the door.
Boardroom
The Boardroom is the community storage room attached to the northwest corner of the workshop. It is for both community and private storage. In general, the materials stored in the board room are for use in the workshop. There is also a section for bike storage. There are guidelines for using the Boardroom posted near the entry.
Sports Swap
In the very back of the Boardroom is a community Sports Swap area. Sports equipment donated to the Sports Swap are available for anyone to use on a short or long term basis. There are guidelines for using the Sports Swap posted near it.
